The Fort Mose Historical Society is a 501 (C) (3) not-for-profit educational and charitable organization whose Mission is ‘to tell the Fort Mose Story’. Through a dedicated corps of volunteers, Fort Mose Historical Society brings the Fort Mose Story to the world, ensuring that this vital piece of American history will never again be forgotten. The Society began meeting in 1995 as Fort Mose was declared a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. government. Since its incorporation in 1996, the Fort Mose Historical Society has served as the official Citizens Support Organization (CSO) for the Fort Mose Historic State Park. Fort Mose Historical Society, working in conjunction with dedicated government leaders, scientists and citizens, was instrumental in encouraging the State of Florida to acquire the historic site and to construct a Museum at the park. Today, we sponsor many public programs to expand knowledge of the Fort Mose Story. Fort Mose history is now a mandated topic within Florida Public Schools curriculum. We welcome your membership, monetary donations and volunteer contributions as we continue to fulfill the Mission of the Fort Mose Historical Society. Thank you for your support!
